There's two tax considerations:

Sales Tax: If you buy from an aircraft dealer, this should be covered in the purchase. Otherwise, you'll have to pay this separately - they will find you. Check your state tax laws regarding aircraft. At the time of writing this, sales tax for aircraft in California is 7.75%
Property Tax: In California, the property tax is collected by the county. It's about 1% or so of the value of the aircraft. They, too, will find you.
